NSW SES Cadets a big hit in the West - NSW SES

by | July 29, 2014

There were smiles all round as a proud group of young people from Broken Hill and Willyama High schools graduated from the NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) Secondary Schools Cadet Program today.

The twenty nine students, aged from 15-17 years, took part in the five-day program where they were given a firsthand look at what it’s like to volunteer with the NSW SES. This was the first NSW SES Cadet Program to be held in the Far West Region.

The program provided the students with a range of activities that focussed on leadership, team work, communications plus an introduction to Emergency Management. The students also practiced skills including Flood Boat Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue Techniques, Manual Hydraulics and Air Bag Operation.
