NSW SES prepares for heavy rainfall in Sydney and northern/west New South Wales - NSW SES

With most of the state expected to see some long awaited rain, now is the time to prepare your property. Rainfall in Sydney is expected to impact around noon today.

Sydney may experience between 10 to 30 mls of rainfall with the possibility of up to 50 mls. North west of the state can expect widespread rainfalls ranging between 20 to 30 mls.The Bureau of Meteorology has not issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning as of yet but may do so soon.

Residents located in metro areas are being urged to prepare their homes and businesses now by securing or putting away any loose items around the yard and balcony, cleaning out gutters and downpipes and moving vehicles under secure cover or away from trees and powerlines. With the forecast heavy rain, some flash flooding in low lying areas may occur so people are advised to stay away from any creeks, rivers or stormwater drains.
