SES receives more than 500 calls for help after storm hits Canberra - ABC News

Emergency services received more than 500 calls for help after yesterday's rain storm lashed Canberra.

Wind gusts reached up to 74 kilometres an hour and rain gauges recorded more than 80 millimetres in Tuggeranong.

Acting head of ACT State Emergency Services (SES) Tracey Allen says Canberra's far south bore the brunt of the storm.

"Most of the damage occurred in the Tuggeranong area and into Kambah as well," she said.
